2020 Wishlist | Christmas

I've noticed that the older I get, the smaller my wishlists are, and they tend to focus more on one thing rather than several. For instance, this year my list for my boyfriend consisted of cosy things, for my brothers it was books and tea, and for my mum it was plants and planters, what more does a girl need?

I thought I'd share my list not with the intention of getting any of these from you, whoever you are, but rather as a sort of inspiration when buying for other people.

This year I became absolutely obsessed with Tolkien's writing, it all started with The Hobbit, I then moved to The Silmarillion, and have already read the first two LOTR books, so my list includes The Return of the King, in a somewhat similar edition as the ones I bought on eBay, but it also includes this beautiful four-volume, deluxe pocket boxed set of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. Another one I absolutely love but didn't mention in my list as it is too much to ask is this beautiful set which features all of Tolkien's original, and unused, dust-jacket designs! Truth be told, anything Tolkien related could come my way right now, and I'd be more than happy.

While speaking of recently found loves, how could I not ask for this beautiful edition of The Complete Novels of Jane Austen? Although I would also be very happy with any of Chiltern Publishing's editions of Austen's works, Emma and Pride and Prejudice are my favourites.

Still book related, I also asked for a few more numbers of The Walking Dead comics, I'm an absolute zombie geek, I've loved them ever since I first saw Dawn of the Dead, both remake and original, and I've been obsessed ever since! I've been slowly collecting them when I find them secondhand on eBay, but the process is slower than I wish it was, mostly because not every number is readily available when I want it, which is fine, so I asked for a few new ones, I already have Days Gone Bye and Miles Behind Us, so I asked for Safety Behind Bars and The Heart's Desire to give my collection a little boost.

Lastly, on the subject of books and comics, I would love to read V for Vendetta, I really loved the movie when I first saw it, and no matter how many times I've watched it, my love for it never diminishes, as much as I would love this Absolute V for Vendetta special edition one day, I only asked for the paperback version.

As for tea, which every year my brother makes me write out a full list of whatever teas I want, I'll only share a few, more so my favourites than the new ones I asked for, this way I know I'm recommending something great! My brother's favourite tea place is Palais des Thés, and some of my favourites from there are the Thé Noir Nº25Jardin des Reines, and Milky Oolong. As for my favourite tea place, which I've mentioned every year since I've started this blog, is Kusmi Tea and although nothing beats Prince Vladimir, the Spicy Chocolate comes at a close second, I particularly recommend this one as a latter with oat or hazelnut milk. As for a more affordable option, and also one of my absolute faves, is the Twinings Spiced Chai, but I've also always wanted to try out their Christmas Tea.

Regarding cosy things, most things I mentioned in my wishlist for my boyfriend were secondhand, so I'm afraid if I share the link someone might get their hands on them before me, so I'm going to be a little selfish and share a few different variations. Because my boyfriend and I are planning a little weekend away between Christmas and New Years', and we're thinking of going somewhere with snow, my first thought was a black scarf, gloves and a beanie, ever since I bought my first cashmere sweater last year I've wanted nothing else on my body, so something like this Cashmere Solid Scarf, the Signature Ribbed Cashmere Beanie, and the Signature Cashmere Gloves, all by NAADAM would be such a wonderful gift.

Another thing I mentioned on my list for my boyfriend was jewellery, we both enjoy buying a few bits for each other once in a while, and we usually buy them from a local store which sells both new and secondhand pieces, as I can't link to those I thought I'd share a few of my favourites from Etsy. I love the simplicity of this Dainty Gold Plated Ring by TZUFA, and how lovely is this Botanical Seal Ring by PikaiaDesign.

Lastly, for plants and planters, which my mum and I always buy locally, I have my eye set on a few different species, all available online on Urban Jungle, the oh-so-famous Ficus elastica ‘Ruby’, the spotty Begonia maculata ‘Silverspot’Calathea ornata sanderiana, the little Scindapsus pictus ‘Argyraeus’, or even a simple Senecio String of Pearls would make me unbelievably happy! And although we buy most of our planters in small stores in our hometown, can I just say how much I love this Urban Outfitters Sloth Planter? Also, this Estrella Plant Pot and Tray would look so good in my bedroom, and don't even get me started on this little cutie, the Sitting Pot by ReadySetMade on Etsy!
