A few years ago I wrote a few gift guides, which is something I love doing, last year I only wrote one, The Ultimate Sustainable Gift Guide, but this year I thought I'd go back to a few small gift guides instead, which are much less daunting to write and to read.

The Knitter
Knitting is one of my favourite slow living rituals, picking up a bit of wool and making something new out of it gives me great joy, and there are a few essentials that would make great gifts. You could start with a pattern, like this Aran Sweater Knitting Pattern or the Patterned Cropped Cardigan Knitting Pattern, both great projects to keep your friends warm in winter. There was once a time when a book wouldn't last me over a week, at times there were books that wouldn't last me a day, reading was what I enjoyed doing the most and I dreamed of the day I could do that for a living. Fast forward to 7 years ago, when I started university, and although I really didn't want to get a degree, I knew that if I had to, it had to be something to do with literature.
Sadly, bulk stores aren't available for everyone nor everywhere, but that's no reason not to shop sustainably. My local grocery store has a few bulk options, and there are a few bulk stores around the city, which I'm lucky to have access to, but there are still lots of products unavailable and also a few I can't afford, so here are a few of my tips on how I do my shopping sustainably without bulk options.
